Pam Lendzion and Presley King, our great friends from Saint Augustine, Florida, did us a huge favor by
"boat-sitting"
Dakota Rose for a week in May while we returned to the States for the wedding of Dianne's neice,
Erica, in Denver, followed by a Nelson family reunion in Dillon Colorado and a visit back home to Coronado. We saw
Pam in passing at the St. Maarten airport the day we flew out, and we knew that
Dakota Rose would be in good
hands. Both Pam and Presley are licensed captains, Pam knows the boat intimately from the year we kept it in Saint
Augustine under her care and from sailing with Steve. Presley had actually sailed this boat as a charter captain for
the Moorings in Tortola before we bought her, and more recently helped Steve sail her down from the Turks and
Caicos to the Virgin Islands in April. Here's their log for the week.
May 21, 2005: Exited [through drawbridge] to Simpsons Bay at 11:30 in the company of a 150'+ Trip-designed
sloop. Easy sail, 9 knots, to Grand Case. Calm anchorage, swam off boat, outdoor shower, early dinner, bed.

May 22: Easy sail to Anguilla. Light SW wind, ran into heavy squall line, turned into wind for 30 minutes. Arrived
Road Bay at 1:30. Cleared in (pleasant bunch), visited with Kenroy (park warden). Rolly anchorage.

May 23: Sailed to Dog Island, anchored through rain squalls. Very rolly, heavy swell, decided not to go into beach.
Sailed back to Crocus Bay. Our neighbor is a beautiful 60' wooden ketch named
Lone Fox with Swedish Flag (man
aboard definitely a fox!) Caught several snapper. Pleasant anchorage.

May 24: Picked up mooring at Little Bay, paddled to shore. Great swimming, white sandy bottom. Lots of rain.
Paddled back to boat, lunch, paddled to shore, soaked for hours, anchored in Crocus Bay for night ... more fish.

May 25: Sailed to Sandy Island, south wind. Paddled ashore. Lots of tour boats, everyone left by noon. Presley
found a hammock. Winds picked up, sailed back to Little Bay to swim, anchored in Crocus Bay.

May 26: Sailed around to south side of Anguilla (Cove Bay, Cap Juluca Resort). SE wind, 18 knots, anchored for
lunch and swim. Wonderful swimming in corner near watersports. Sailed through squalls to Simpson Bay.

May 27: Entered lagoon at 9:30 behind two large power boats meeting a 120' sloop coming out. Simpson Bay
Marina feels like home ... great service.
Dakota Rose was good to us. Of all the boats we've sailed, she's our
favorite. Thanks!
